Melody Nixon
Melody Nixon is New Zealand-born writer living in New York City. She is working on a collection of lyrical short prose pieces investigating colonialism, place, and identity. In 2012 she was selected for residencies at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, the Norwegian Theater Academy, Art Farm Nebraska, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and The Ragdale Foundation. She is the recipient of grants from The Gatsby Foundation and the Harriman Institute in New York City, and was the recipient of a 2010 - 2012 writing scholarship from Columbia University's School of the Arts. Melody is the Founding Editor of Apogee, a literary journal dedicated to work by writers of color and work that explores issues of identity, race and writing from the margins.
