For nearly two weeks last month, Manila - the capital city of the Philippines - was in Australia. Audiences at the Blacktown Arts Centre of New South Wales became temporary citizens of a city of recycled cardboard boxes, shadowplay and surround-sound performance. "Within & Without: Portrait of a City" was both drama and art, physical and psychological, multimedia production and collective artistic vision.
